Replacing Fear With Peace

Terrified! That was the look on my frozen friend’s face from atop the ladder. He climbed up, turned sheet white and asked, “Can you help me down please?” Have you ever been so afraid you couldn’t move? He was!

A fear of heights can do more than just tickle the tummy. It can cause you to become totally paralyzed, panicked and even leads some people to tears. But heights aren’t the only thing to cause this reaction.

Many of us face fears that aren’t visible at all. We fear things like not being accepted, not being loved or being alone. We fear the future and we even fear the past.
What are you afraid of?

What if I told you there’s an answer for your fear and a way to overcome it instead of allowing it to overcome you? Good news- there is and it’s not as difficult as you think.

The goal is to remove fear and replace it with peace. It’s a matter of what you let dominate your life.

Here are two ways you can begin replacing fear with peace today.

  1. Accept the peace Jesus gives.

Jesus said in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

The world wants to dominate you with fear. Jesus wants to give you peace. It’s time to stop being afraid.

 2. Tell Jesus exactly what you’re afraid of.

I don’t want you to complicate this. I simply want you to have a conversation with Jesus. Tell him exactly how you feel, fears and all!

1 Peter 5:7 tells us to do just that when it says for us to “cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

Did you get that last part? Jesus cares about your fears. He wants to replace them with his peace.

What are you waiting for?

Do it now. And I would suggest saying it out loud. It’s good for you to hear yourself giving your fears to Jesus and accepting his peace.

I’m praying for you,
Zac
